it's official

The documents are now in the hands of Hope International. We are done with our portion of the adoption process. They will be finishing up the rest of our packet before it get sent to China. I'm telling you, my posts will be very boring, we take one baby step at a time now.

Now we wait to receive our 171H...

Does Hope International choose your child for you? Do you get any info on the mother/baby during development? Has your baby most likely conceived?

Lots of questions from Mee!

Meedo, our child should be from 11-13 months old when we get her, so she could already be conceived. I will not know anything about my child's birth parents. Chinese children are typically abandoned in the middle of the night. They are left in a box or basket on the steps of a library, hospital or somewhere very public. This way they will be found as soon as the sun comes up. Sometimes there will be a note attached to the baby stating the date of birth and sometimes a name. If there is no birthday listed, they have to make an educated guess. The names of the birth parents are not known. Chinese children are not available to be matched until they are 6 months old. At that time the Chinese Center of Adoption Affairs looks at all the people requesting children and matches them with a baby. Hope International is our agency here in Dallas who walks us through the process, makes sure we did everything correctly and then is our liason with the CCAA once our documents get there. Our referral, which includes a picture, will be sent to Hope International and they will call us immediately so we can come look over the paperwork.

Does that help?

That does help A LOT. I just want to know everything I can about how my niece is being born into this family!
